Hello MHS! I wanted to introduce myself to all of you as I will be with you for the 2012-2013 school year. I am Jennifer Ferreira, the new intern for the Career Center and the School Counseling office. Having completed my Bachelor’s degree at UCONN, I’m working towards my Master’s degree in School Counseling. I am local to the area (Ellington). I first became interested in becoming a school counselor when I was in high school after finding that I enjoyed helping others, including my fellow classmates. I would do anything from give advice on a situation to helping a classmate understand a concept in class. Studying the mind in my psychology class also peaked my interest. Completing my internship at Manchester High School is the last step in my degree, and I look forward to a great year as well as a great experience here!
I also wanted to share a little of what I’m doing here at MHS.  I’m working with Mr. Tarnowicz in the Freshman Center in the office across from Ms. Mieses’ office.  I’m working mostly with the Kappa Team checking in with students, however if you have and issue or need to talk stop in to see me!  In the Career Center I’m working with Mr. Danaher in the office next to Ms. Bumbera’s office.  I’m currently working on setting up a college fair in May and meeting with students from last year’s Phi Team to do follow up on college/future oriented planning.  I’ve also been helping students with student brochures, college applications, scholarships, and SAT registration.  If you need help with one of these things or you need a little direction with your future, come see me in the Career Center!
