UConn Western Civilization students circumnavigate the globe. Students in the UConn Western Civilization class are studying the effects of European colonization on the world. They are reading about the travels of the explorer Ferdinand Magellan and the capture and enslavement of Olaudah Equiano.
In the pictures students work cooperatively to plot a course that circumnavigates the globe. Students use latitude and longitude to plot checkpoints along the voyage as they search for the shortest route around the world.
