That’s right, Friday night football games at MHS are back again. The Indian’s season opener is Friday at 6 p.m.and Coach Marco Pizzoferrato is ready to hit the ground running – literally. He said the team plans to feature the running game against first-night opponent Hall High of West Hartford.
“We need to play physical and with discipline,” said Coach P, whose team lost a “win-able” game against Hall last year, 36-28.
MHSD will feature a “power spread offense” built around RBs Roy Richards and Elijah “Mojo” Udoh and quarterback Marquis Little.
Manchester is craving for their revenge. “They have a good passing game,” he said of Hall, “and they’re quarterback is great at reading plays.”
MHS has great confidence leading into its first game. “They played hard in our 4 scrimmages this summer,” says Pizzoferrato, referring to the Indians’ pre-season matchups with Wethersfield, Windsor, Berlin and Northwest Catholic.
With 18 seniors on the team, Coach P fully expects “major senior contributions throughout the season.” Among them is tight endAndrew Isaacs, who is coming back from an injury.
As for defense, Coach P says, “If we secure our tackles and read the plays well on defense that’s half the battle.”
